My name is Renée Digout. I’m from an ordinary town called Yorkton, in Saskatchewan; population: 20 000. Needless to say, coming to the big city of Calgary has made a huge impact on my reserved, Prairie life.
I am 21 years old and am currently enrolled in my third year of the concurrent Education program at the University of Calgary. I am pursuing a focus in Secondary French Language Arts; however, my biggest passions lie within the Arts. I hope to integrate theatre, poetry and music into my teaching.
My favourite pastime is singing, which I can never quite seem to stop doing. In another life, I would have loved to perform on Broadway; musicals are the pinnacle of my addiction. My ultimate dream, however, is to have one day stepped foot in every country.
I love to travel, and have been all over Canada and most of Europe; I hope to inspire a thirst for the unknown within my students—to teach them about their world and all its wonders. I can never stop planning for my next adventure (next stop: Australia!). Cultural diversity is something that shall be cultivated and explored within my classroom; I intend to use my natural gift of empathy to create an open environment in which students can feel comfortable growing and developing in their own individuality and unique gifts.
Regardless of the places I have been, I am still proud to call Saskatchewan my home—during my summers off, I live and work at a small lake, Crystal Lake, where I spend my days kayaking, bike riding and swimming.
If my profile appears ambiguous, it is only because I have yet to decide whether I want to teach high school or elementary students; I have a genuine passion for both age groups, and consequently I am constantly finding myself planning lessons for both adolescents and young children.
My love for the arts and my wanderlust are two of my greatest passions that I hope to use not only as inspiration for future teaching, but also as means of continual discovery that shall aid me on my personal journey as a lifelong learner.
Please follow the link to enjoy a song that I recorded a few months back; I use music in order to express myself, both emotionally and creatively. A taste of my writing from years ago, "Fit".
